Static Hydro Energy, registered in Dublin, Ireland is a company involved in the design of new energy generating systems. Founded in 2013, the company has spent the intervening years developing its technology with assistance from individuals from Trinity College, Dublin, Arizona State University and Imperial College, London. It has taken seven years to navigate the company’s suite of Patents through to grant. The company now holds Patents for all major geographical regions.
From the onset, the company identified the need to tackle the huge wastage associated with the use of compressed air in industry. To that end, they designed a new revolutionary technology that enabled the pressure inherent in compressed air to be turned into a force.
Following the completion of its “Proof of Concept” prototype four years ago, the company, with the assistance of engineers from Imperial College, London, designed and build a demonstration Model of their technology. All funds relating to the development of the technology and the international patent process (approximately 1.7 million) were raised from existing shareholders. In addition, no salaries were paid to officers of the company.
It should be noted that the company has now reached Level 5 on the NASA Technology Readiness Level.
The TRL is a system designed to measure technological development. It was developed by NASA in the 1960’s as part of the Apollo programme to send a man to the Moon and has been adopted by industry in general globally since then.
Where a topic description refers to TRL, the following definitions apply, unless otherwise specified:
Static Hydro Energy does not intend to become involved in the manufacture and distribution of its technology. Following the completion of the final development stage with Imperial College London, it is now the company’s intention to explore the different deployment situations. These deployment possibilities can then be sold / licensed or form part of a joint venture either individually or collectively.
The company currently see the technology being monetized in one of three ways.
The above assumptions/possibilities are not written in stone and Static Hydro Energy is willing to consider exploring other avenues to monetization.
